Bullard introduces their next generation traditional helmet

The Bullard Firedome® UST6 provides classic traditional style in a more affordable, easy-to-maintain helmet.

Bullard UST Series fire helmets are engineered Bullard Tough for extreme conditions. You’ll also find the classic, traditional style you desire in the affordable, easy-to-maintain design of the Bullard UST Series.

Tough and Durable

The outer shell of the UST is made of Thermoglas® and is more resistant to chemical attack and more stable at extreme temperatures. In addition, the dual-purpose CFC-free urethane foam of the impact liner provides superior impact and penetration protection, as well as heat insulation. This stable, high-heat foam is coupled with a thermoplastic inner shell for durable protection.

Custom Comfort

All Bullard fire helmets are equipped with the U-Fit System, offering 12 custom comfort settings. By engineering our helmets to include 12 points of adjustment, you can adjust the ride and balance of your helmet. It’s like having a custom-fitted helmet, designed just for you.

Molded Inner Liner Impact Cap System

UST/USTM helmets include a molded inner liner impact cap system that provides superior durability, resistance to heat, and thermal rise protection. It also keeps the helmet shell secure and stable, and the molded goggle grommets allow for greater goggle comfort, support, and performance.

Premium Quality

The intricately carved brass eagle proudly adorns the front of Bullard UST helmets. The quality, durability, and pride of these brilliant leather front holders are a statement of patriotism in the fire service. All Bullard leather front holders are capable of accommodating every leather front on the market today.

For maximum visibility, even in extreme heat, UST helmets come standard with high quality Scotchlite® striping, which retain reflectivity at 500º F. Another standard premium feature is the Bullard Sure-Lock® ratchet headband, offering both easy-turn sizing and a unique three position height adjuster to create a completely personalized fit. The UST helmet is also equipped standard with a leather ratchet cover.

NFPA Approved

The UST fire helmet exceeds the NFPA 1971, Standard on Protective Ensemble for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Firefighting, 2013 Edition Pertaining to Structural Fire Helmets.

New Brass Eagle: The Stars and Stripes Eagle speaks volumes in tradition and patriotism in the US fire service, capable of accommodating every leather front on the market today.

Improved durability: The Firedome UST6 helmet has an outer shell made of Thermoglas® providing a new standard of composite material toughness and durability. Chipping and cracking found in conventional fiberglass traditional style helmets is virtually eliminated. Thermoglas technology continues to provide the quality found in composite materials including chemical resistance and stability at extreme temperatures. Color is molded through the shell; nicks and scrapes are less visible.

Amazing New Fit: Improved designs in a removable brow pad and ear cover make this UST the most comfortable low riding traditional in the industry.

Cost Effective Maintenance: Firedome UST6 has been designed for easy maintenance. The brow pad is washable and replaceable; a unique feature for traditional helmets. The brass eagle can also be replaced.

ReTrak Features:
  • Simple one-handed operation
  • Easily accommodates eyewear
  • Increased area of protection
  • Comfort nosepiece
  • Quick removal for cleaning
  • Made in the USA
Leather Fronts: The New Bullard UST6 now takes a 6" leather front.

Helmet is certified to meet NFPA 1971: 2013 Edition.

love it!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was worth the money

by

Pretty good helmet, it looks good always only down side on it I had my googles melt on it in a structure fire.

Best helmet I've ever had

by

Wonderful product, has saved me more than once. Best for working in dangerous conditions such as extreme weather and/or among debris.

Too Heavy

by

This helmet is an OK helmet, its just fairly top heavy even when you adjust the inside head carriage.

Works well for intended use

by

Product did what I required of it. Only issue with it is it was top heavy, but thats something i got over within moments I recommend this helmet to everyone.

Great product! Great company! Thank you!

I am an Explorer with the Lexington Fire Department in Lexington Kentucky. This was my very first helmet. I absolutely love it! Thank you so much! I would highly recommend buying products through The Fire Store! Great company and great service!

Abe Lincoln would feel right at home in this bucket.

This is the worst fire helmet I have ever had. Bullard has added too much junk to these lids. every ounce adds up. The suspension system can not be adjusted enough to get the center of gravity close to your head. It already has to ride high with a SCBA facepiece, so the only thing holding it on your head is the chinstrap. With a face shield and small AA light this helmet weighs close to seven pounds. There is a reason why Bullard does not publish the weight on their spec sheet, and they have a rather detailed flyer telling you that fit is more important than weight. They don't want to get a whole bunch of them back. Buy a different lid. Or you will be scrounging around the station looking for a helmet you can actually wear to fight a fire. I'd rather wear a mop bucket than this thing.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for new helmets

We use these helmets for all emergencies including structural fire operations

I love this helmet!

This helmet fits and looks great. Yes, it is a little heavy, hey...it IS a firefighter helmet.

Q&A's:

"Im wondering when i buy a shield for this helmet will i need to buy a notched one or a normal 6""?"

You will get a 6"" front if that's what your asking about. when you look at the more info skroll down and you will see that is covered in there.

"How much does it weigh?"

about 5 lbs. they all are within 4 or 5 ounces of each other, and by that I'm talking about the composite/fiberglass helmets. Leather helmets are heavier.

"If I buy this helmet in yellow, all the helmet is yellow or it is black and yellow."

if you order yellow it is yellow, not 2 different colors

"Dimensions?"

We don't understand what you are asking, the helmet looks just the same as the other Bullard traditional UST6 helmets, you need to decide what style of eye protection you want or need, Bullard hasn't change the appearance of the helmet in any way.

"if I ordered a helmet and a shield will they come separately?"

Hi Brent, yes they will be shipped separate, the front shield (you are talking about the frontice not the face shield) will be custom made to your spec's and dropped shipped to you.

"so I ordered a shield with my order. I have both. but how am I supposed to screw the shield on with out the holes?"

Brent, if you didn't ask for the holes to be drilled in your front, then you're going to need to drill your own. On the helmet your going to need to match up the holes, the best way to do this would be to take the brass eagle off and lay it against the back of your front and mark the holes, mark twice and drill once, use a variable speed drill and small drill bit for your first holes, double check yourself before you go any further. If everything is correct you should be able to reinstall the brass eagle on the helmet and continue to finish drilling your holes. Hope this is of help to you.

"Can We Change The Reflectors To Tetrahedrons?"

Brent, yes you can change them, we have many different styles and colors on the web site

"Does the UST6 have a ratchet system inside for a more universal fit, and if not how do the sizes run?"

The Bullard helmets all have a ratchet system in them

"what are flipdown eye sheilds?"

they are called Bourke's there what the traditional new Yorkers wore

"Does the helmet come with the brass eagle, or will i have to purchase that separate?"

New Brass Eagle - The Stars and Stripes Eagle speaks volumes in tradition and patriotism in the US fire service, capable of accommodating every leather front on the market today. Yes it does

"Hi, I__m a member a fire station in Santiago, Chile , and my question is whether you do purchase shipping to my country . attentive to their answers"

Israel, we do have international shipping, go to our web page go down to the bottom of the page you will see CUSTOMER CARE under there you come to SHIPPING COST & TERMS, click on that and it will take you to INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING follow the directions

"I want the bourkes/ESS Goggles option, and I need the helmet NFPA certified. But when I select it I can only select OSHA. Will I have to buy ESS Goggles option and the bourkes separate?"

Depending on what color you want, I just selected a NFPA helmet with ESS goggles, don't know why you couldn't, have black and pink in stock, other colors will need to be ordered.

"We have the helmet and they came with the goggles, we are trying to put the shield on it. Do we need to use a different adapter for it."

This helmet should use a 6"" front, and there is nothing else like an adapter. You do have to move the goggles out of the way to fit the front on, after you screw the front to the helmet place the goggles back on the helmet, the goggles should then be in front of the front. If this doesn't fix your problem, you will need to send me some photos of your helmet and the front. bgriffin@thefirestore,com

"We have the helmet and they came with the goggles, we are trying to put the shield on it. Do we need to use a different adapter for it."

Well Jesse, my bad, from your question we were under the impression that you were looking for the leather front shield, not the eye protection face shield. you will need a part number R-151, which is a mounting kit for the face shield

"Is it possible to have a beaver shipped with it instead of the brass eagle? Is a leather front included with this?"

The beaver is an additional item you would have to purchase with your helmet. You can put it on your order with the helmet and ask to have both shipped at the same time. The leather front is not included in your purchase. To purchase a leather front please visit our custom page by clicking on the ""customize"" banner on our home page. There you can design your front to look just the way you want it to.

"I want the bourkes/ESS Goggles option, and I need the helmet NFPA certified. But when I select it I can only select OSHA. Will I have to buy ESS Goggles option and the bourkes separate?"

I've been trying to find clarity too. I built my bullard from their site and it is non-NFPA with bourkes and goggles so I built with just goggles. But Cairns had theirs reviewed and can have bourkes and goggles as the goggles allow it to be NFPA as primary protection. I think Bullard hasn't had it reviewed if they wish to.

"I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REFERENCES UST6 AND USTM6, THANKS"
