Details

The Upgraded Fire Cam Mini 1080 Fire Helmet Camera is the smallest, most capable HD fire helmet camera on the market today, especially designed by firefighters for use in interior firefighting scenarios.

Capable of recording in striking 1080i HD at 30 fps or in 720 HD at 60 fps, the Fire Cam Mini 1080 is equipped with a 170° wide-angle lens. Measuring 86 x 30 x 30mm and weighing a slight 3.31 ounces, the Fire Cam Mini can accurately capture photos for use in investigations.

The camera's enhanced chipset and lens help provide a sharper image in low-light conditions. Due to its anodized aluminum frame, the camera and its heat-resistant glass lens can withstand smoldering temperatures surpassing 900 degrees Fahrenheit for brief periods in addition to 2000 degree Fahrenheit flash temperatures; however, use in concrete training towers or flashover chambers is not recommended due to the prolonged exposure to high temperatures for long periods of time.

Once the camera is activated, it continuously records, automatically saving any captured video and categorizing it into segments up to 15 minutes long. To ensure the smoothest, highest quality of video, use the 32 GB CLASS 10 Micro SDHC card that is included with the camera. The SD card automatically records over the oldest files.

The water resistant sound cap allows you to accurately record audio, including radio traffic; the waterproof cap does not record audio, but can be used for underwater incidents down to 33 feet. An all-new “vibrate” feature allows the Fire Cam Mini HD to momentarily vibrate once it is turned on, off, or when the record function is activated in order to inform the user of its current state.

The auto power off feature gives you the option to have the camera automatically turn off after 10 minutes of not recording. The camera comes standard with a BlackJack Fire Helmet Mount that permits easy attachment to any style of helmet.

Horrible

by

This is the worst camera ever, quality is horrible it does not produce a steady continuous film. It skips all over the place and cuts your videos into 5 min films on its own. I'm still trying to find out how to get a full refund.

Don't judge a book by its cover

by

I use the camera for only training purposes b/c of HIPPA policy. It can take a hell of a beating and still work. It can be drenched with handline or can be in sizzleing heat. I don't think the video quality is as good it can be. The video quality is noting like a GoPro. Also the audio quality is terrible.

This thing is better than my go pro!!!

Outstanding Video

by

The video quality from this camera is fantastic, and the low profile on my helmet keeps me from snagging on anything. I would highly recommend this camera.

Perfect for him

What camera do you know that you can wear into a house with flames bursting and not get ruined? Or, wear it underwater and still not have it completely destroyed? This gift was amazing. Huge thank to my girlfriend.

GREAT CAMERA

by

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. SERVES AS A GREAT TRAINING TOOL FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. HOWEVER, I ALSO RECOMMEND RECORDING VIDEO IN THE 720P MODE AS THE 1080i DOESN'T TRANSITION FROM LIGHT TO DARK WELL OR SMOOTHLY. KNOW IT'S LIMITATIONS AND YOU CANNOT MAKE A BETTER PURCHASE!

Nice Cam !!

Great Camera

Fire Cam: Mini HD review

by

I've wanted this camera ever since I borrowed my Chief's for my interior burn test. Unfortunately once I bought my own, my FD said that I wasn't allowed to use it on calls or even responding to calls because if anything happened my footage could be used as evidence. So I bought an expensive camera for nothing basically.

I would buy and recomend this product to others

I have found this to be a good tool. We bring the video back and review it. We can than look for areas to improve and also point out when personnel are doing a good job.

Cool stuff

Holds up to heat well. was in a house fire where it cracked my face peice but the camera was fine. Has been through several house fires and has held up well. No complaints other than the mounting bolts could be longer.

Gift

Bought as a gift for a fireman. Works good so far, he said to be sure and read through all of the directions to get the video if that is what you're looking for. Easy to put on helmet.

Q&A's:

"How long will it record till it shuts off?"

The Fire Cam MINI HD needs to use a CLASS 6 or CLASS 10 Micro SDHC card for the smoothest video. It is recommended that you use a 16GB card as an 8GB card will be full in 50 minutes in 1080 mode. Please check out the video on the Fire Cam MINI HD!

"why are people saying that it shuts off after 15 minutes...as a safety feature?"

The Fire Cam group have asked that you send them your question direct, they are handling all of their customer service questions, this is their e mail address; firecamservices@gmail.com

"just bought from you guys and received no instructions in the box. When you plug into charge does it automatically start or do you need to turn on after plugged into the wall. Then how to you change the settings?"

As soon as you plug the camera in, it will start charging. You should see a ""Blue"" light. Upon completion of charge, you'll see the ""Blue"" light go out.

"just bought from you guys and received no instructions in the box. When you plug into charge does it automatically start or do you need to turn on after plugged into the wall. Then how to you change the settings?"

We have added a pdf of the manual to the web product pages. Scroll down the page where you will see a link. http://www.thefirestore.com/store/product.aspx/productId/23548/Fire-Cam-MINI-HD-1080-BlackJack-Mount-Included/

"Does it come with the class 10 sd card?"

Sorry not at this time.

"Does it come with a Card? or is that extra?"

it doesn't come with a card, you need to provide that.

"What kind of warranty comes with the Mini HD (1080)?"

It comes with a one year manufacturers warranty.

"Does this camera come with the fire damage warranty thats offered through the Fire Cam website?"

Since the question is a month old, I have to assume the answer is 'No"". That being the case, my best option is to buy it direct from the maker in order to get the better warranty.

"Does this camera come with the fire damage warranty thats offered through the Fire Cam website?"

Did you get a copy of the warranty with the camera, it should have been included with the instructions sheet, to answer your question, yes it should be unless it has been damaged some how.

"How long does the battery usually last?"

Justin, that is going to depend on how often you use the camera

"What type of charging cord does it use?"

A USB cord

"Can it be left in a vehicle during the winter months without having issues when an opportunity comes to use it?"

We can't find anything that tells us you can't, the choice is up to you. We are wondering why you would want to leave in in your vehicle over night, you are paying a lot of money for something to be left outside, just us thinking out loud.

"Can it be left in a vehicle during the winter months without having issues when an opportunity comes to use it?"

I think you would risk shortened battery life/performance due to the impact of cold temperatures on batteries. This of course would depend on how cold it gets.

"What type of charging cord does it use?"

It looks to be a mini USB female connection on the camera. It would have been nice if they went with something that is more ubiquitous like micro USB so I did not have yet another cable to keep track of.

"why are people saying that it shuts off after 15 minutes...as a safety feature?"

From the experience with mine, it does not actually shut off after 15 minutes, but does break the videos into 15 minute segments. To my understanding, this is so that in the event of damage/failure, you should only risk losing the current 15 minute segment.

"How long dose the camera battery last with the camera running and how long can the camera record?"

Jason, this is the response we received back from the mfg. The Fire-Cam Mini on a fully charged battery will record approximately 75 minutes, continuous, no stopping and restarting without any interruption, unless you stop it and restart it.

"Where do I find a replacement battery for my BlackJack helmet cam? Battery number is 103-002. Thanks."

Kim, you get 2 spare batteries, the USB cable for computer charge, and an AC wall charger with the camera, if you need new batteries you can purchase them from ""The Fire Store"", also the camera is mfg. by the ""The Fire Cam"" not Blackjack, they make the mounting bracket. -Two spare rechargeable batteries provide a 1-hour recording life -USB cable to connect to computer for charging -AC wall charger

"Camera not powering on want to get new power cord first. Bought from u March 2016"

under warranty if under a year since purchase. As long as your sure the batteries are good and are making contact, then the next step; The USB cord designated by either the Mini USB or 1080 USB (for 1080 and Wifi 1080) depending on which camera they have. There are 2 different types of cords.

"Why mi 1080 fire camera don't record more than 5 min?? I change the settings several time and nothing. Which are the correct setting to record 30 min, please?"

Send your question to this e mail address; firecamservices@gmail.com they can answer your question.

"Is this camera GPS-enabled?"

This is not GPS enabled.
